Coordinated Public Transit – Human Services Transportation Plan

Specific funding is provided by the Federal Transit Administration to assist in meeting the transportation needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and people with low-incomes. Projects funded with these funds must be derived from a locally developed Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (or “Coordinated Plan”).

In August 2022, the COMPASS and Valley Regional Transit Boards of Directors adopted the 2022 Coordinated Plan. This plan identifies transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people with low incomes, and people with limited English proficiency, then provides strategies for meeting those needs.

The highest priority needs are:

  • Improve Access to Transit
  • Expand Service Hours and Days
  • Increase Service Frequency/Availability
  • Improve Access to Employment
  • Meet Service Needs in Rural/Suburban Areas
  • Co-Locate Affordable and Accessible Housing on Transit Lines
  • Improve Access to Necessary Social Services and Medical Providers
