COMPASS Workgroups
COMPASS is a collaborative organization bringing together multiple jurisdictions to make joint decisions about regional transportation. Workgroup and committee meetings provide a forum to discuss transportation planning issues, recommend improvements to procedures and products, and prioritize regional transportation investments. Since participation is the essence of COMPASS workgroups and committees, members are encouraged to attend.

Active Transportation Workgroup
The Active Transportation Workgroup will provide provide guidance in the development, integration, and implementation of regional active transportation
(bicycle/pedestrian/micro mobility) planning. This encompasses stakeholder coordination, data collection and analysis, regional infrastructure mapping, needs identification, and member agency decision support.

Demographic Advisory Workgroup
Demographic data are the most important inputs into the travel demand model, help establish member dues, and support local land use and transportation planning. The Demographic Advisory Workgroup provides expert guidance and feedback on COMPASS demographic and growth tracking projects.

Freight Advisory Workgroup
The Freight Advisory Workgroup will advise and provide input on freightrelated issues and needs, and to help integrate freight into the development and
implementation of the regional long-range transportation plan. The workgroup will facilitate information sharing and coordination among organizations, and advocate for freight considerations in transportation project prioritization and funding.

Grant Resource Alignment Workgroup
The purpose of the Grant Resource Alignment Workgroup is to strategize and collaborate among partnering agencies in creating an annual calendar for grant resources to maximize funding for projects that meet the goals of the Communities in Motion 2050 (CIM 2050) long-range transportation plan. The workgroup will facilitate information sharing and coordination among organizations and advocate for grant considerations in transportation project prioritization and implementation.

Housing Advisory Workgroup
The purpose of the Housing Workgroup is to provide guidance in the implementation of the COMPASS Regional Housing Coordination Plan. This encompasses needs identification, data collection and analysis, and the development of communication material.

Public Participation Workgroup
The Public Participation Workgroup will assist and advise advise COMPASS staff on COMPASS public participation and outreach activities; serve as a conduit for sharing information from COMPASS with Ada, Boise, Canyon, and Elmore County residents; and provide a forum for communication staff from COMPASS member agencies to share information, assist one another in public participation and outreach activities, collaborate on regional projects, and receive input on outreach activities from the general public and interested stakeholders.

Public Transportation Workgroup
The Public Transportation Workgroup will develop and recommend components and phasing (timeline) of the public transportation system in the Treasure Valley. Work will focus on meeting regional public transportation needs in the two counties to improve mobility and access, and maximize transportation investments.

Regional Geographic Advisory Workgroup
The Regional Geographic Advisory Workgroup will provide input and guidance on regional Geographic Information System (GIS) issues and tasks, such as
orthophotography and the Regional Data Center.

Regional Operations Workgroup
The Regional Operations Workgroup will help coordinate the development of traffic operations strategies and identify tactics that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of the regional multimodal transportation system. The workgroup is responsible for implementing adopted operations strategies, coordinating operations plans and strategies with other regional transportation planning efforts, and supporting the COMPASS Congestion Management Process.

Regional Safety Workgroup
The Regional Safety Workgroup will support implementation of the actions identified in the Regional Safety Action Plan. The workgroup will also track progress toward regional safety goals, evaluate the effectiveness of implemented safety countermeasures, evaluate regional crash trends, coordinate grant opportunities, and identify additional safety needs.

Rural Prioritization Process Workgroup
The Rural Prioritization Process Workgroup will develop a recommended priority list for rural programs managed by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC). Work will focus on determining the most beneficial rural projects in Ada and Canyon Counties to maximize rural transportation funding and bring more funding into the region.
